Let’s Compare and Contrast the Big Metal Shed…for Old Times Sake

In 2014, the Knoxville News Sentinel and BrianHornback.Com have not really been critical of one another like the earlier days say back in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008. It is kinda funny how a crazy court filing will bring us all together.

However, I noticed that when this story was reported a couple days ago about Sheriff Jones hiring Former District Attorney General Randy Nichols and this story from yesterday rationalizing the hire.

Both of those stories are much different in tone and tenor than this story from November 3, 2014. The November 3rd story even generated this Editorial on November 10, 2014. Moore is a former Knox County Sheriffs Department officer from 1986-2001 so cronyism was a stretch on November 10, 2014.

BrianHornback.Com has not been critical of any of Sheriff Jones hires, simply because I recognize through my limited experience with law enforcement (Knox County Jail Inspection Committee and Knox County Sheriffs Department Merit System Council service) that apprehending, detaining the bad guys is not easy work. I have a lot of respect for General Nichols and the job he did as District Attorney General and for Former Commissioner Moore as an Officer and as a County Commissioner. If they are the best choices for counsel and for directing inmate industries, respectively than who am I too Monday morning quarterback that decision.

Granted, BrianHornback.Com doesn’t have near the advertisements that the News Sentinel has because maybe my content isn’t about selling a $1 a day or $2 a Sunday and Holiday product. But, I will stick with the thousands of visitors I get daily and the advertisers that allow me to promote them. Sometimes, it just isn’t about scare tactics and humiliation.

Now, if it is about daily administering task of government or about the mundane task of assessing property and the office is a revolving door of cronies that get bigger than normal paychecks and salary adjustments, that is news worthy. Of course, when you operate BrianHornback.Com and you point out the obvious, you have to pay legal fees to defend yourself against a costly legal challenge that takes over a year to get heard after presenting the facts 30 days later that includes the other parties own voice message. Of course, based on legal counsel advice, I will not comment on said case, confirm nor deny which case it is and will just wait for both sides to be heard and any potential counter —–.
