Yesterday evening I was listening to WJBZ Praise 96.3 at 6 p.m., they air the audio of WVLT news. During the newscast, the story about Knox County Criminal Court Clerk Mike Hammond discovering a bank account at First Tennessee Bank that has $2.5 million.
In the news story the comment was made that Mayor Burchett would like to give pay raises with the new found $1.25 million. Why this Mayor continues to discuss using one time money for recurring expenses demonstrates how out of touch with real business and what a bureaucrat this Mayor is. Just last month, the Mayor awarded holiday bonuses to full time employees with one time money. A similar tactic that forced a Trustee from office. But the Mayor does it with out the scrutiny of a previous office holder.
Now, WVLT couldn’t have gotten the Mayors position wrong as the Mayors Communications Directors wife is an employee at WVLT. Now, the Mayor could be against a position he was once for. Like the internet sales tax, James White Parkway expansion and several other positions he has flip flopped on. It’s just another day on the Sixth floor on the county side.
