Saturday morning, January 31, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the Loudon County Courthouse the Loudon County Republican Party met to reorganize. Chairman Keith Buckles called the meeting to order. Ron Jordan led the prayer and Justin Burnette led the pledge. Loudon County Young Reublican Chairman Jeremy Buckles was the Convention Chairman.
The first order of business was to elect a Chairman, the nominating committee presented Melissa Caldwell Browder. No other candidates were nominated and Mrs. Browder was elected by acclamation.
The next item was the election of Vice Chair. The nominees were Leon Shields and Justin Burnette. Both gentlemen spoke and Mr. Shields was elected after all ballots were cast and counted.
The next order of business was to elect a Secretary. Mrs. Frankie Shields was elected by acclamation. The next order of business was electing a Treasurer. Mr. David Martin was elected Treasurer by acclamation. The next order of business was to elect Vice Treasurer. There were two individuals nominated. Justin Burnette and Shirley Reno. After all votes were cast and counted. Mrs. Reno was elected.
The convention then took a recess while the county districts met to elect a district representative. When the county came back into session. The sixth district was deadlocked over Wayne Snell and Greg Buckner. The county then cast votes and after the votes were counted Mr. Buckner was elected as the sixth district member. In District One, Scott Newman will serve. In District Two, Joe Hall will serve. In District Three, Bobby Buckner will serve. In District Four, Gary Whitfield will serve. In District Five, Ron Jordan will serve. In District Six, Greg Buckner will serve and in District Seven Teresa Womack will serve. State Republican Executive Committee Woman Julia Hurley was present. The State Republican Executive Committeeman was a no show.
In other business, the party recognized the leadership of Sharon Yarbrough who served as Chair from 2013-2014 and Keith Buckles who served as Chair from 2014-2015.
State Representatives Jimmy Matlock and Kent Calfee were present. Both gentlemen talked with citizens during breaks in the convention.
After the convention concluded, attendees met with each other while the new officers exchanged contact information and began to discuss the next meeting of the Executive Committee.
