Yesterday’s Knox News Sentinel had a story about how Knox County Mayor Finance Director said any additional money necessary for Knox County Schools is not likely. The last paragraph states,
Caldwell has said the county’s risk management costs were greater than expected in the current fiscal year, and that a surplus could be spent on that difference.
This is the department Third District County Commissioner Randy Smith works for when he isn’t commissioning. so Caldwell and presumably Timmy Floyd Burchett are placing the blame on a Commissioner and his ability and capability to do his real county job. Isn’t that just like Burchett? When he mismanaged his campaign funds for a second time, he blames his wife and divorces her because the ability to marry again or rent a spouse couldn’t be too far around the corner. Right?
If the County Mayor and Commission are not able to provide an adequate facility and or instructional program for the growing communities of Hardin Valley and or the County Central Elementary School then are they abdicating their fiduciary responsibilities, which is could be a violation of their oath of office. Burchett’s current term is outside the window of one year after and one year before the election, so the possibility of a petition seeking a recall election could be a real probability. While Commissioners Jeff Ownby, Dave Wright and a few others are up for reelection within the next year, a recall election petition may not be a possibility. However, the lack of providing the educational programs and lack of adequate can be an issue that would trip up a re-election bid.
