Hugh Nystrom, a candidate for Fourth District County Commissioner appointed a Treasurer on April 20, 2015. Any candidate and all candidates are NOT permitted to ask for, receive any contributions or spend any money until a Treasurer is appointed with the Election Commission. Nystrom filed his first financial disclosure on Thursday July 9, 2015. Between April 20, 2015 and June 30, 2015, he has raised $27,025.00 and has spent $500. Leaving Nystrom with a balance on hand of $26,525.
In what is one of the most refreshing financial disclosures to review. Nystrom has no un-itemized contributions. If a person contributes $100 or less it can be un-itemized. Nystrom received a $25 contribution and it was itemized. Nystrom has 5 couples (10 people) which added to 67 total individuals that have given $27,025.00 to his effort to gain the Republican nomination on March 1, 2016. Early Voting is February 10 – 23, 2016.
In other news, the incumbent Fourth District County Commissioner last filed a financial disclosure on February 2, 2015, the balance on hand was $87.78. According to an early March 2015 column in a local weekly newsprint publication by Former Mayor Ashe, the incumbent had a campaign kick-off at a private residence in Sequoyah Hills on March 26, 2015. According to the incumbent’s campaign Facebook page, he had a second fundraiser at a local West Knoxville restaurant on June 23, 2015 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. As of this posting, the incumbent has NOT filed a new financial disclosure.
It is good to see Mayor Ashe’s wife and the Haslam’s are not going to just allow Ownby to serve as their Commissioner. They are backing Nystrom with their money and if they back him with $$$ they will vote for him too.
