This morning on WBIR‘s Inside TN the four candidates for Knoxville City Councilman at Large Seat C were featured. Incumbent Finbarr Saunders took a beating from all three of his opponents.
Challenger Paul Bonovich was a greater motivator and advocate for city employees like Mike Kingsbury. Pointing out Saunders voting against military veteran and city employee Kingsbury receiving the benefits that as Bonovich explained “Kingsbury deserved”. Bononvich pointed out the 34 cent property tax increase and advocates a rollback of of the tax increase that Saunders voted for. Bononvich also pointed out Saunders vote for high density commercial development in Sequoyah Hills.
Challenger David Williams pointed out the adverse actions that neighborhoods have received in Saunders past four years. Neighborhoods suffering with cut through high speed traffic has been largely ignored by Saunders, Williams contends.
Challenger Kelly Absher did not level any specific complaints or differences between he and Saunders. Which may be Absher’s strategy, the I am not Saunders and am not against anything that has happened the past four years.
Bonovich is the contender that has had the resources and volunteers to get his message out in August. If the uniformed bodies of KPD and KFD get behind Bonovich with his already grass root organization. He is set to win the primary and between September 29 and November 3, Saunders could be a one man show having to defend the cities actions of the past four years.
The primary election is September 29, 2015 with early voting from this Wednesday September 9 through September 24, 2015. Go to knoxvotes for early voting locations.
How can Finbarr Saunders use the campaign slogan, “Seeking Solutions, Building Bridges”? He is the only candidate running who literally had a bridge taken down. I saw the “Inside Tennessee” show this morning and Finbarr was the last place candidate. Either Paul Bonovich or David Williams would be excellent representatives. Send Finbarr Saunders home. He does not serve the district.
