The incumbent Knox County Commissioner Fourth District has had four events in 2015 where he raised funds for re-election in 2016. He had a reception fundraiser at a private residence in the 4200 block of Kingston Pike in Sequoyah Hills on March 26, 2015. He had a tailgate event at the Orange and White game on April 25, 2015. He had an event at Doc’s American Grill on June 23, 2015. After those three events, his financial disclosure of 7/16/2015 (after having to correct his 7/15/2015 filing) lists from 1/16/2015 until 6/30/2015 having raised $3,784.00 spending $2,179.82 having $1,692.96 on hand and a loan of $300, which should translate into $1,392.96 on hand. This past Friday, September 11, 2015 the incumbent had the fourth event an event billed as a campaign kickoff. In a city park….
While the other two candidates,
Hugh Nystrom appointed a Treasurer on April 20, 2015 and according to his July 9, 2015 financial disclosure filing raised $27,025 and spent $500. Nystrom has had NO events and according to information that I have received will have an event in late September or early October in the fourth district.
Janet Testerman appointed a Treasurer on July 8, 2015. Testerman had a successful reception at Bridgewater Place on September 1, 2015, check out my coverage here. Alot of business and civic leaders were listed on the host list and it is expected that she too will have either met or exceeded Nystrom’s fundraising.
Contributions continue to be received by the campaigns of Testerman and Nystrom. Money does not ensure a vistory, it does pay for mailings, television, radio and hopefully website ads. If the incumbent after six years of service has less than $1,400 on hand while the other two candidates combine for nearly $50,000 while the election is six months away. reality should have set in on a normal individual.
