This morning, WBIR‘s Inside TN focused on two of the City of Knoxville City Council elections on the November 3, 2015 ballot. First Fifth District Councilman Mark Campen and his opponent Jennifer Mirtes were on, Mirtes agreed with many of Campen’s positions.
Secondly, City Councilman at large Seat C Finbarr Saunders and his opponent Paul Bonovich were featured. Bonovich has toned down some of his criticism over the pension plan. That could be because of this Joe Sullivan story in the weekly publication Knoxville Mercury on holes in Bonovich’s criticism.
Bonovich was critical of the Christenberry house rezoning in Sequoyah Hills where Bonovich live and the Tennnova decision to relocate the hospital from North Knoxville to off Middlebrook Pike. In my opinion, Bonovich is NOT a private property owner rights advocate. He wanted the Sequoyah Hills Homeowner Association to dictate the use of the Christenberry property to the City. While it seems that the Council worked with the property owner to make the best use of the property. Additionally, Tennnova possessed an option or purchase of the property off Middlebrook for a medical facility and they have a right as property owner of the North Knox property to do as they wish with the property and Bonovich apparently advocates telling them what they can and can not do with both parcels of property.
Bononvich’s campaign has been in flux having changed campaign consultants within the last couple of weeks.
