In this story, on Knoxnews.Com this afternoon we learn that the Tennessee Democrats joined by the ACLU are questioning Governor Bill Haslam’s request yesterday suspending placing any Syrian refugees in Tennessee. Democrat State Rep. John Ray Clemmons has asked the state attorney general office today for an expediated advisory opinion on whether Tennessee has the legal authority to refuse acceptance of individuals who the federal government has determined as a refugee and who has passed background checks.
Mayor Rogero is reported to have participated in a conference call with the White House about the screening process for Syrian refugees coming into the country. Rogero who was once called by Hubert Smith “a disciple of Obama” told the News Sentinel, “many of our own ancestors fled persecution and deprivation to come to this country.” Yes, they did. But, they came through Ellis Island and was properly screened and registered.
The reason to build a wall is because of the southern entry where millions have gained access without any proper registration like our ancestors did through Ellis Island.
Democrats in Tennessee are obviously in support of a federal government that ignores state rights. If Rep. Clemmons really believes his request that why would the legislature and the governor even need to exist. Just give away all the states rights to Obama and the federal government. I don’t remember the Democrats having these beliefs when George W. Bush, George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon and other Republican Presidents.
