In District Two,
Jennifer Owen, raised $525, spent $122.50 and has $402.50 on hand. Grant Standefer raised $29,600.00 spent $3,180.29 with a remaining balance of $26,419.71 Notable Contributors include School Board Chairman Doug Harris and his wife Carla, the spouse of School Board Member Karen Carson, a few Haslam family members. Expenditures through January 15, 2016 is consulting fees, campaign photos and kickoff event expenses. *Already on Knoxviews there is some moaning about the large donors and Standefer’s choice of Consultant, when I ran the large donors did not contribute to me. But, I didn’t moan and groan about it, I raised what I could, where I could and it worked successfully for me in 2000 and in 2005 when I was elected Knox Co. GOP Chair. When you run for office, you know your limitations and your supporters instead of complaining need to break out the cash.
In District Three
Tony Norman a former Knox County school teacher, a former Knox County Black Wednesday County Commissioner and current Knox County employee under Mayor Timmy Floyd Burchett is unopposed for a ANOTHER county tax payer check. Norman has raised $3,550.00 His form lacks a signature of witness, making it an incomplete document, it is rather odd that immediately under the candidate’s name is the signature of Richard B. Armstrong, Jr. however it is not located in the correct location and there is no witness signature under the Treasurer’s signature. Making this document NOT LEGAL AND TRUE TO FORM. His form on the Summary page shows no expenditures, but he details $2,713.76 in disbursements, which if accurate would mean that he has $836.00 on hand. His contributors are Bud Armstrong, Former Failed Third District County Commission Candidate Billy Stephens. If Norman can not complete a simple form and subtract $2,713.76 from $3,550.00 how can he be one of nine to handle the millions of dollars of the Knox County School Budget?
In District Eight
Michael M. McMillan raised $450 with a $150 in-kind contribution from Former Black Wednesday Appointed County Commissioner Jack Huddleston for food for a reception.
We will cover the Fifth District in a separate story.
