Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett’s Director of Engineering and Public Works appeared in front of Knox Co Commission advocating an increase in housing permit fees. His rationale was to come in the same range as other similar counties. When those fees are passed onto home buyers that my friends is taxes.
So, the decision will be made by lame duck County Commissioners Sam McKenzie, Amy Broyles, Jeff Ownby and Mike Brown. The County Commissioners whose positions are not up for election until 2018 are Randy Smith, Charlie Busler, Bob Thomas and Ed Brantley. The Commissioners that face election on 8/4/2016 with early voting July 15-30, 2016 are John Schoonmaker, Brad Anders and Dave Wright.
