NASHVILLE, Tenn.-October 11, 2016 — Liberal Knoxville activist Gloria Johnson is calling a press conference in an attempt to nationalize her race against State Representative Eddie Smith.
Given that, the Tennessee Republican Party took the opportunity to examine Johnson’s record of plagiarism of national liberal leaders. If that sounds familiar, it’s because in 2014, the TNGOP documented six different instances of plagiarism by the former educator on her website.
A quick search of her website this morning finds at least two more recent instances for 2016. See the graphic below with the screenshots:
TNGOP Chairman Ryan Haynes stated, “The copy and paste candidate is back. If Gloria Johnson thinks she’s going to find the solutions for the problems Tennesseans are facing by plagiarizing Elizabeth Warren’s playbook, she’s wrong. Eddie Smith has proven himself to be a common sense problem solver who will work with Governor Bill Haslam in the Legislature. That’s a marked improvement over Johnson who did nothing but antagonize and undermine Gov. Haslam during her time in Nashville. All because she wanted to push an extreme liberal agenda that, apparently, wasn’t even her own.”
Background
Johnson voted to allow food stamp benefits to be used in liquor stores, tattoo parlors, and even adult stores (House Bill 1538; 2014 session).
Voted against Gov. Bill Haslam’s balanced budget (House Bill 2501; 2014 session).
The TNGOP previously documented six different instances where Johnson lifted significant portions of her policy stances from national Democrats.
