Why Burchett and Grider didn’t give this to their bud Mike Donila could indicate trouble with the friendship or maybe ole Bean just went in and picked up the documents from the Mayor’s office desk and scanned them pronto, Ole Bean doesn’t indicate how or whom is her source for the documents.
It seems that according to the Shopper News scans linked here in the KnoxViews post that Criminal Court Clerk Mike Hammond wants to merge his office and Circuit Court Clerk Cathy Shanks office. Interesting that Hammond would want to eliminate the position of Shanks when it can only be assumed that Shanks is running for re-election, Don Ridings is an announced candidate, with probable candidacy announcements of Tim Burchett, here, Scott Smith and Robert Lawrence Smith, here potentially imminent.
Shall I take a BIG ole bucket of ice cold water on this attempted brush fire of ole Bean and crew? In order to eliminate the position of Shanks it would require a Knox County Home Rule Charter* change. Which is only by a vote of the voters. The soonest that could happen would be in 2018 when Shanks and Hammond are on the ballot for their positions. So nothing else to see her folks!
