This report in the Saturday Knoxville News Sentinel exposes one of the weakness of the Knoxville Mayor. The Mayor appoints Joe Walsh as the Head of Parks and Recreation. The Knoxville Police Department conducts a background check, but City of Knoxville tax payer money is still spent on an organization that has a person on as Coach with a charged drug background, granted he has not been convicted but being charged keeps you off until you’re proven innocent.
So, if the Knoxville Mayor can not hire the right people to monitor a city organization. How will he be able to hire the right people to monitor the entire state. With Bill Haslam, it’s obviously above his pay grade.
