The 60 House members and 25 Senate members of the TN General Assembly that have imposed their tax and spend liberal agenda on the state took the bullet for the elected officials back home in their districts. The Mayors of all the counties, cities wanted the revenue so they leaned on the members of the House and Senate to pass the far sweeping tax reform proposal. Also, the Road Commissioners and Superintendents in the counties wanted the money. In Roane County the Road Superintendent is a former State Representative who was soundly REJECTED by the voters in 2010.
In my opinion, there were two heroes on the side of representing their constituents.

First is a Democrat, TN House District 41 Rep. John Mark Windle cast a NO vote. A NO vote that surely reflected the wishes of his constituents. As a Democrat he could have gone along and imposed of the citizens on the state what the Republican Governor and Republican House and Senate wanted, but he represented the wishes and will of the citizens in TN House District 41. Could Windle be the guy that could bring together a Conservative Caucus for the new members that will replace all these tax and spend liberals in 2018? Second, is TN House District 32 Rep. Kent Calfee, back in January at a AFP-TN Tank the Tax downhill, Gary Johnson of the Roane County Tea Party said that Calfee takes his orders from Senator Ken Yager. Clearly, Calfee listened to the voters that elected him in 2012, 2014 and 2016 and cast a no vote.
Politicians rarely have to match their walk with their talk. They can go to Nashville and cast a bunch of bills and keep getting elected. However, this tax and spend vote revealed that Representatives and Senators that have always said they were Conservative, actually when it came time to match the walk with the talk become nothing but LIARS.
