Back on July 14, 2017 in a BrianHornback.Com story here we posted about the Sanctuary City position of Brandon Bruce and now this Washington Examiner article identifies Knoxville, TN as one City among many across the USA that plan to add 1 million citizens within one year to the US population through sanctuary city designations.
In the Knoxville’s City Council Second District race, only Brandon Bruce supports Knoxville as a Sanctuary City.
Wayne Christensen said, “I oppose the City of Knoxville being a sanctuary city. Sanctuary Cities are currently against federal law and tie the hands of our law enforcement, whose job it is to keep our communities safe. The current federal immigration system is a mess and If I am elected to the Knoxville City Council, I will fully support our police department to enforce immigration law to the best of their abilities.”
David Williams said in a Facebook posting on Saturday. “I oppose ‘sanctuary cities’ . It is cheating. When you cheat you go against the rules. How do you think those who come to the USA to live, work, play, or go to school and go by the rules feel? Cheated, right ?”
Andrew Roberto said, “I do not support the designation sanctuary city. Knoxville currently enforces all federal laws and if that policy was to change up to 12% of the city’s budget could be at risk. As such, I do not support a change in current policy.”
