My readers, friends and family know that for many years I have developed friendships with many different entertainers. Primarily country and Southern Gospel but doesn’t matter the genre, these people are people.
When the wife and my oldest son was in Middle School he began running lights at church, He is now 26 years old (will turn 27 at the end of this month) He has run lights for artists, churches, retreats everything.
About two weeks ago he boarded a bus with an act that is traveling the country and Canada for 10 weeks. They have already had several sold out concerts. I carry his tour schedule with me, so I know where he is. We see his Facebook, Instagram and Snapchats. (Why he gave up on Dad’s favorite of Twitter is still puzzling to me, I digress)
This morning when I woke up, the wife told me about Jason Aldean s performance in Las Vegas and we knew about Route 91 festival because we are avid listeners to Sirius/XM’s The Highway and they were covering Route 91 all weekend. The wife and I returned yesterday from the Sugarlands MountainFest Music and Outdoor Festival over the weekend. We watched some news.
Early this morning, I called my dad his first question was I don’t guess you’ve heard from Drew. I said oh no Dad he was in Colorado this weekend, they did a festival in Vegas last week. I then told my dad about the weekend performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater which was a highlight and how his grandson, my son was able to sign the tunnel. Dad and I finished our conversation and 30 minutes later it occurred to me, that my son could have been a victim a week earlier at a festival in Vegas. Who am I kidding, it can happen at any large gathering. There is no safe place anymore.
So forgive me if I am deep in thought for my son, our friends and don’t seem my typical self. This one is gonna wear on me for a while.
In the meantime, pray for our son and all the entertainers and their crews traveling the highways and biways.
