The incident that you first read about here in March 2017, concerning former Commissioner R Larry Smith has been closed. No charges have been filed. The District Attorney in Anderson County (NOT the Knox County DA) that reviewed the file concluded that the victim was credible, however did not pursue charges and a trial.
I am aware that two Knoxville television stations were behind me in getting the file. The file contains all notes, transcripts and recordings including an email about Mr. Smith’s campaign manager contacting the department.
I requested the file in July and renewed the request about a week ago. More to follow.
