The Karns and Powell Communities of Knox County had Mr. Republican in Jim Harbin. On January 17, 2018 Harbin passed from this world to Heaven.
Harbin was born in Dixie Lee Junction in Knox County and graduated from Farragut High attended Milligan College in Johnson City where he exceeded in football and basketball.
He was a Navy reservist and was called to active duty during Korean War, earning a Purple Heart in North Korea.
He was active in home building business and very active in Commerical and Industrial Construction and Development.
He was elected to Knox County Commission 1980 and served two terms.
