KNOXVILLE, TENN. – March 27, 2018 – As his bid for Knox County Mayor enters the home stretch, Candidate Glenn Jacobs continues to fight any proposed tax increase as a central part of his platform
“Between property tax, sales tax and the wheel tax, the county will collect nearly half a billion dollars in 2018,” Jacobs said. “All the while, spendthrift politicians gnash their teeth and cry that we need even more. That’s ridiculous.”
Jacobs plans to make analyzing the budget and seeking out excess funding a priority. “A flexible budget is a functional budget from a standpoint of addressing the needs of the community from year to year.” He continued, “we cannot continue to force everything into a cookie cutter budget because ‘that’s the way we’ve always done it’”.
Additionally, he highlights the importance of public-private partnerships as a way of saving money. Such partnerships could alleviate pressure on the budget and allow funds to be stretched further.
“We can increase the wages of our teachers and our Sherriff’s Deputies as well as finance many other improvements the citizens of Knox County are asking for without reaching into their pockets for more money,” Jacobs added. “We just have to take a smart, innovative approach to the budget and adhere to our commitment of being fiscally responsible.”
Jacobs will host a meet and greet on Thursday, March 29 at G&D Market and Deli from 5 – 6:30 p.m. He will be there to answer questions and share his vision for Knox County with everyone in attendance. G&D Market and Deli is located at 612 Tipton Station Rd. in Knoxville.

Heard there is a poll with Bob Thomas leading by ten points. How is that possible. He doesn’t even have a college degree.
