In 2015, Knox County approved $12.5 million to install solar panels on 11 Knox County properties including roof tops. It was completed in 2016. Read about it here,
When the project was approved by Knox County Commission and Knox County School Board, it was said there would be a guarantee (which Finance Director Chris Caldwell confirmed yesterday on the video below)
From the above linked article The project, recently completed, is expected to provide more than $29 million in energy savings to the County, as well as generating an aggregate approximately $14 million in positive bottom-line cash flow for the County over the next 30 years.
At yesterday afternoon’s last budget meeting with the public for the day, I asked how much cash flow Knox County had received, the Mayor said, “I got no idea, Brian” after a brief exchange with Caldwell about the program, Caldwell says he will get me that information, it could be a couple days, as soon as I know…..you will.
