At today’s Knox County Commission meeting, Third District Commissioner Randy Smith asked Knox County Commissioner John Schoonmaker to explain his resignation from the Knox County Retirement and Pension Board. The Commission has decided to replace Schoonmaker on November 13, 2018. Schoonmaker said he would explain it then, makes you wonder if his reasons are continuing to evolve. Schoonmaker has REFUSED to inform a member of his constituency for his reason.
Additionally, many Commissioner’s were scheduled to attend a County Officials meeting in Chattanooga, TN this week. All of them with the exception of Schoonmaker have cancelled and will be in Knoxville for the Thursday meeting about the pension settlement that Commissioners Busler, Wright, Dailey and Schoonmaker refused to have discussed and voted on tonight. Busler, Wright and Dailey have all announced they will attend Thursday’s meeting. Schoonmaker announced he has meetings scheduled with Commissioners and Mayors at the Chattanooga meeting to discuss some fees that should be repealed statewide. So he will stay in Chattanooga and NOT attend the pension vote on Thursday. He is in essence giving the middle finger to 636 + or – Knox County law enforcement officers.
To all elected officials across the TN Valley, please be the source of #TheMegaBullhornofTruth in Chattanooga this week. Should you see Schoonmaker doing anything other than meeting with other Commissioners or County Mayors, take a picture and send to me. Your identity will be protected. If he is running for an Association position, send me a picture. If he is consuming adult beverages, send me a picture. Again, I repeat your identity will be protected.
Schoonmaker has a cell phone provided by the taxpayers of Knox County, TN I encourage you to call him, text him about your thoughts at 865-607-6625.
