This past Tuesday the 73 members of the Tennessee State House that are Republicans met in Nashville at the City Club to select the nominees for the leadership of the 111th General Assembly. They selected
Glen Casada for Speaker of the House. Casada has served as Majority Leader and put together a team to secure the Speaker position. He will do well, especially countering the Democrats.
Bill Dunn for Speaker Pro-Tempore. Dunn a Representative from Knoxville and has been featured here on #TheMegaBullhornofTruth was a great choice and will do exceptionally well.
William Lamberth was selected for Majority Leader, a member since 2012. Another good choice to counter the Democrats.
Cameron Sexton of Crossville was selected for Caucus Chairman besting Knox County area Representative Jason Zachary 58-15. I have known Sexton since 1998, when we both managed different Knox County Republican races. This selection should send a clear message to Zachary and everyone in the House, with Zachary garnering 15 votes, an inside source said it is likely Zachary got the 5 Knox County legislator votes and 10 freshman legislators (people that do not know him) However, the legislators that have worked with him from 2015-2018, clearly rejected his personal political ambition and his political style. Multiple sources indicate that Zachary voted for Rep. Curtis Johnson for Speaker
Rick Tillis was selected as Republican Majority Whip
Paul Sherrell was selected as Republican Majority Floor Leader
Ron Gant was selected as Assistant Republican Leader
Brandon Ogles as Caucus Vice Chairman
Chris Todd was selected as Republican Assistant Majority Floor Leader (Freshman)
Clay Doggett was selected as Secretary
Mark Cochran was selected as Treasurer
Michael Curio, Knox County area Representative Martin Daniel, Pat Marsh, Bill Sanderson, Ron Travis and Mark White on Fiscal Review Committee
The Tennessee Republican Senate Members are set to met and decide their leadership on December 3, 2018.
