On November 30, 2018 I wrote this story about the 5 applicants that had applied for the County Commission position vacated by David Wright’s departure.
Well, yesterday was the deadline to apply and three more candidates emerged. There are a total of 8 applicants. Tomorrow Wednesday December 5 at 2 pm the Knox County Commission will hear from all the applicants and will then select one.
Sonia Suzanne Sanders, a retired Knox County School teacher. Her immediate family are all either former Knox County employees with her son Daniel as an Attorney in the Knox County Law Director’s Office. Her husband is retired from Knox County schools and another son is a former employee of the Knox County Property Assessors Office during the term of Phil Ballard (another applicant for this Commission Seat)
Michelle Westover, was most recently the Independent candidate for the State Representative position that David Wright was elected to on November 6. She did go through an election, participating in forums and had individuals vote for her. A native Knox Countian, living on an active farm in East Knox County.
Krystal Gibson, a native of District 8 that has resided within the district (except for when she went away to get her college degrees) She received two Associate degrees at Walter State Community College, a Bachelor and a Masters from the University of the Cumberlands.
She has worked 17 years with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. In her Resume she cites more than 12 awards or Citations of her work. In November and March 2016 she was awarded Detective of the Month.
