NASHVILLE, TN – State Representative Lowell Russell (R-Vonore) has officially passed his first bill as a member of the Tennessee General Assembly and the House Republican Caucus.
House Bill 838 specifies that a new conviction of sexual offense, violent sexual offense, or violent juvenile sexual offense constitutes a violation of the Tennessee Sexual Offender and Violent Offender Registration, Verification, and Tracking Act of 2004.
“As a member of the General Assembly and a former state trooper, I work every day to ensure our communities are safe,” said Representative Russell. “This legislation will help keep sexual offenders out of our neighborhoods by reinforcing the sex offender registry and enhancing penalties. I am pleased this legislation passed the House with strong bipartisan support, and I will continue my work to protect our communities.”
