UPDATE: Mark Nagi replied via Twitter- “This is for a development that is going in on Emory Rd. @myTDOT has informed the contractor that they are required to install a pedestrian detour when closing a sidewalk. If by Monday morning the detour is not installed properly, TDOT will follow up and ensure that it is.”
Original Post: Thanks to a Facebook post, it seems that along Emory Road near Brickey McCloud Elementary School the state TDOT has closed a sidewalk and children abs adults are forced onto the state highway.
Keep in mind that Knox County Schools has a PRZ zone for all students within a one mile radius of a school that there is no Knox County School transportatio provided, so the students on their bikes are likely biking home in the photograph.
TDOT, is this a temporary or permanent situation? When will the sidewalk be reopened?
The individual that posted this stated in a comment that he had contacted John Becker and Don Dare. Two individuals at two local television stations with neither showing an interest.
Monday morning no detour
