(Knoxville, TN) It’s almost time to crown a new Miss Tennessee! The brand new board of directors, volunteers, and great citizens of Knoxville have been working diligently to make this year’s competition a success. Miss Tennessee 2020 will be crowned Saturday, June 29 at The University of Tennessee’s Thompson-Boling Area.
Previously, Miss Tennessee was held in Jackson, Tennessee for almost 70 years.
“It was time for a change. We want this competition to belong to the state of Tennessee. We want them to know and be proud of their Miss Tennessee. The move to Knoxville was a no-brainer. We hope that in the future, several cities in our great state will be able to host. Our goal is to become accessible for fans, volunteers, and posterity living throughout the state,” said Eddie Smith, Foundation Chair and VP of Production.
During the last week of June, 27 Miss Tennessee hopefuls will vie for the role of Miss Tennessee. The winner will go on to compete for Miss America. The class of 2019 is truly incredible. Each contestant is beautiful, smart, and talented. All of those attributes can be seen throughout the competition. Something that you may not see if you only watch the competition is that these young women have hearts for a cause. Not only do they support the Miss America charities; they each have a specific platform. Most of them have been advocates for their platforms for many years. They dedicate countless hours of time and energy to these efforts. We want the citizens of Tennessee to know just how hard these women work to meet needs in our state
