Today was day two of the Knox County Commission retreat at Johnson Bible College in far, far away South Knox County.
Organized by at Large Commissioner Seat 10 Larsen Jay. Media entity Compass Knox was present Friday and part of Saturday. I attended the Saturday morning session when Knox County Mayor’s Deputy Chief of Staff Chris Caldwell discussed the county finances. I stayed for the first exercise that the Commissioners worked on.
Caldwell apparently NOT a fan of tax free weekend

Johnson is now Johnson University, a fully accredited University with over 70 degrees, all the way up to Masters and doctorates, with almost 1500 students spread. Their degrees range from business to social work to teaching to communications to non profit leadership to sports and fitness leadership to traditional ministries. They transitioned from Johnson Bible College to a full scale University a number of years ago, and have been named by Forbes Magazine as one of the 100 most financially strong Colleges and Universities in America. They are an under appreciated major asset in our own backyard – the “other” fully accredited University in Knox County. Thanks for covering the Commission retreat on Johnson’s beautiful campus!
