Knox County Commission and the Sunshine – Anders and Biggs

As usual, I try my best to attend the “Sun-shined meetings” of County Commissioners. Today at 9 am, Commissioner Brad Anders and Justin Biggs met. It was noticed on December 20, 2019.

Kudos to Anders, who in his day job is the Knoxville/Knox County 911 Director sun-shined this meeting with Biggs, although he may not have had to. *read the entire post and especially the last paragraph for my explanation of this.

Biggs is a newly appointed member of the 911 board. Appointed by Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs within the last couple months. The first board meeting that Biggs will attend in his capacity as a Board Member is January 15, 2020.

This meeting was to provide Biggs a tour of the facility and bring him up to speed on the operation of 911.

One of the most interesting things that Anders said is that the current organization is handling 2019 call volume with a 1999 personnel level. Meaning they still have the same number of employees they had in 1999.

This was my second tour of the 911 Center over the years and out of an abundance of caution, refrained from taking photos of the Center and it’s operation.

There have been a couple of recent incidents where IMHO (in my humble opinion) sunshine notices should have been sent. Like before this December 3, 2019 event that I posted about. Also, this one before Knoxville Mayor Indy Kincannon’s inauguration. So, Thank YOU to Anders and Biggs for ensuring the public and media are aware, even if only #TheMegaBullhornofTruth and my readers are the ones that care, apparently!
