On Friday afternoon, I met with John Meade, a candidate for Knox County School Board in the Second District. The Second District includes Fulton and Central High Schools and many of the middle and elementary schools that feed into those schools.
Meade is a father of two, one is a Carson Newman College student and one is a student at Central High School. He is a stakeholder that has experienced and continues to experience the school system first hand. He is also a businessman. The school board needs a business person or three, in the view of many observers of the board.
Meade Co-Chairs the Central High School Foundation. Recently, when Central was facing a reduction of four positions on its faculty and staff. Because of the efforts of Meade and others with the Foundation three of those four positions were not eliminated.
Meade will focus his time as a school board member representing the second district, the parents, students, faculty and staff of the schools in the second district. He will create relationships with all persons to improve the schools for the second district and all Knox County. Check out Meade’s Facebook page, here.
