John R. Whitehead wins another and final four year term as OUR Knox County Assessor of Property a HUGE win with 71.40% of the vote to his opponent’s 28.60%. His opponent has still not filed her pre-primary financial disclosure that was due last Tuesday February 25, 2020.

Judge Kyle Hixson won the Criminal Court Judge position out right, confirming the appointment of Governor Bill Lee. Hixson with 67.27%  to Wesley Stone‘s 32.78%.

David Buuck will face Independent Jackson Fenner on August 6, 2020 for Law Director. Buuck garnered 60.01% to Cathy Quist-Shanks 39.99% of the Republican Primary votes.

Eric Lutton will face Independent Sherif Guindi on August 6, 2020 for Public Defender. Lutton bested Rhonda Lee with the Republican Primary voters 54.31% of the vote to 45.69% of the voters. This Primary win also confirms Governor Bill Lee‘s October 2019 appointment of Lutton.

Contested County Commission Primaries

Dr. Dasha Lundy in the First Commission District bested Commissioner Evelyn Gill with 52.69% to Gill’s 47.31% of the Democrat Primary votes. Lundy now faces Independent Reginald Jackson on August 6, 2020.

Kyle Ward bested Scott Broyles in the Fourth District Republican Primary. Ward with 60.97% to Broyles 39.03%. Ward won the Primary the old fashioned way, he earned it. While Broyles relied on endorsements of Commissioner Larsen Jay and Hugh Nystrom. Ward now moves to August 6, 2020 to face Democrat Todd Frommeyer who received 4,614 Democrat votes.

John Schoonmaker squeaked out a Republican Primary win over Christian Conservative Challenger Clayton Wood. Schoonmaker with 52.05% to Wood 47.95%. Schoonmaker must now face Democrat Kimberly Peterson on August 6, 2020. Peterson received 4, 263 Democrat votes.

Contested School Board Races

Jennifer Owen will return to the Second District School Board seat winning the nonpartisan position with 57.60% of the vote to John Meade‘s 42.40%.

Daniel Watson will join the Knox County School Board besting Former Black Wednesday Knox County Commissioner Tony Norman with 54.85% of the vote to Norman’s 45.15%.

Susan Horn was unopposed and received 8,957 complimentary votes to return to the Fifth District seat.

In the Eighth District, Mike McMillan who has been sick since December and made ZERO public appearances gained 57.40% of the vote to Adam Brown‘s 27.74% to Leon Daugherty‘s 14.85%. Clearly if something happens to McMillan, Brown is the districts choice. McMillan has a date in Felony General Sessions Court next Tuesday March 10, 2020 for citations from October and November 2019 incidents on alleged animal cruelty for his farm cattle that have since been sold.

Second District Knox County Commission Republican Grant Rosenberg received 2,642 Republican votes and will face Democrat Courtney Durrett that received 4,275 Democrat votes.

Sixth Commission District Republican Terry Hill will be unopposed on August 6, 2020. She received 4,254 Republican votes.

Eighth Commission District Richie Beeler will be unopposed on August 6, 2020. He received 4, 514 Republican votes.

Ninth Commission District Carson Dailey will be unopposed on August 6, 2020. He received 2, 506 Republican votes.
