This week Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs went over to Zoo Knoxville to STAND UP and STEP UP for the animals.
Zoo Knoxville closed for COVID-19 is losing $22,500 a day. Zoo Knoxville is a 501-C-3 non profit, obviously they have expenses for employees that care and feed the animals 365/24/7, in addition to the food cost, the care of the nutritional needs of the animals do not cease to exist.
On Monday, the Mayor is proposing to the Knox County Commission to loan the zoo $500,000 from the hotel/motel tax fund.
Additionally, you can contribute (if you are able) to the emergency animal relief fund on the zoo’s website here
Additionally if you are cutting down trees, tree limbs, check with the Zoo because they will accept certain types of fresh tree limbs that the animals can snack on.
While the zoo is closed you can visit the Facebook page here and see what is going on with the animals.
