League of Women Voters, partners to host virtual candidate forums

Voters in Knoxville and Knox County will have an opportunity to hear from candidates for the Tennessee House of Representatives, the State Senate, U.S. Congress and Knox County Commission in a series of Zoom meetings in June and July. The forums will be moderated by Blake Stevens of WATE.

The forums will all begin at 6:30 p.m. and are scheduled as follows:

• Tuesday, June 23 Tennessee House of Representatives, Districts 14, 18 and 89

Justin Davis and State Rep. Jason Zachary in District 14

Republican candidates Mannis, Gina Oster and Democrat Virginia Couch

District 89 State Rep. Justin Lafferty, I do not have a photo of Independent Greg Mills

• Thursday, July 2 Tennessee House of Representatives, Districts 13, 15, 16 and 19

• Tuesday, July 7 Tennessee State Senate, District 6, and U.S. Congress, District 2

• Thursday, July 16 Knox County Commission

These forums are sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Knoxville/Knox County; Knoxville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Knoxville NAACP; Centro Hispano de East Tennessee; YWCA Knoxville & Tennessee Valley;Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North Mississippi; and Howard Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy. The forums will also be livestreamed and posted via most of the partners’ Facebook pages.
