Last night, the Knox County Board of Health voted to implement on Friday a curfew/ban whatever you wanna call it on alcohol sales after 11 pm. I believe what they passed is a closure at 11 pm.
During the discussion, board members discussed a letter they received by a local lawyer. David Sanders of the Knox County Law Department disputed the allegation that property notice had not been given or a violation of the open meetings law. He said whatever the Board decides is defendable in court. With that the Board proceeded with its action.
I requested the letter, it is from Criminal Defense Attorney Greg Issacs. In the letter he alleges to represent many local restaurants and bars. Including SoKno Taco where the Manager Ryan Steffy served on the previous reopening task force. (Which no longer met after #TheMegaBullhornofTruth exposed the lack of compliance with the open meetings law.) Also the Aubrey’s family of restaurants are represented by Issacs. It’s Founder and President Randy Burleson is set to be appointed as a citizen member of the Board of Health by the Knox County Commission this month.
Here is Issacs demand.
