This evening, right after 9:30 pm, I received the following statement from Rene Hoyos, Democrat candidate for United States House of Representatives in TN Second District.
“I congratulate incumbent Congressman Tim Burchett on his reelection to Congress. My campaign may not have won, but all of our efforts are not lost.
Together, we made half a million contacts with voters, raised more money than any Democrat ever has in this district, are going to get more votes than a Democrat ever has in this district, and most importantly proved that for East Tennessee Democrats — the worst days are behind us. We survived a pandemic, kept all of our staff employed, ran an honest campaign, and continued to build an infrastructure for Democrats in East Tennessee.
We fought for important issues, like better healthcare and an economy that works for everyone. When COVID broke out, we went virtual, volunteered, and raised thousands for the uninsured. And I am proud to say: not a single person got COVID-19 because of our campaign.”
I never receive campaign related emails from Congressman Tim Burchett so I can not report his reaction to the win. I have texted him a Congratulations text.
