Yesterday, Saturday 1/2/2021 Knox County Health Department held a FREE Vaccination Clinic. It was held at the Expo Center. There were only 500 doses and people showed up during Friday night / Saturday morning.
The clinic opened at 9 am and by 12:15 p.m., all 500 doses were administered. Obviously, this was not the only opportunity for vaccinations. There will be more to come once additional vaccine is received.
Those individuals working the event yesterday were.
8 TN Air National Guard servicemembers
42 Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteers
46 temporary and full-time KCHD team members.
Yesterday’s event involved a five-step process for those getting vaccinated:
- Symptom screening and check-in
- Registration
- Medical review/consult
- Vaccination
- Post-vaccination waiting period (15 minutes for most; 30 minutes for those who have a history of severe reaction to anything except injectable medications or vaccinations. Those who have had a severe reaction to any injectable medication/vaccination in the past were not vaccinated at today’s clinic.)
