Yesterday at 5:30 pm Commissioners Randy Smith and Carson Dailey “sun-shined” a meeting at Downtown Grill & Brewery. When I arrived, Commissioner Kyle Ward, Smith and Dailey were present. Chris Caldwell, Deputy Chief of Staff to Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs.
Dr. Dasha Lundy arrived for most of the conversation. As we were leaving, a few of them were headed to a ribbon cutting, Courtney Durrett stopped in and her way to the invited ribbon cutting.
The purpose of the “sun-shined” meeting is that Smith wanted to hear Dailey’s proposal for changing the order of the Commission meeting. Dailey wants to move all of the Knox County Schools business before the first public forum. Dailey said that public forum is not a right/requirement of Commission. That Commission gives it as a courtesy. Dailey talked about limiting it to 30 minutes, where now Larsen Jay limits it to an hour.
Smith said after COVID, the public forum will likely return to normal. Meaning only a few people will participate.
There was some discussion about the dollars coming to Knox County as part of the pandemic and how currently there is little to no guidelines on what to use it for.
