You remember this post about outside legal counsel being retained for a grievance hearing costing us $13,076 and the report was never used? That same legal counsel has been retained for a scheduled two day hearing May 4 & 5, 2021, where Attorney Gary Prince has already made two physical appearances, including one with a court reporter in tow.
Well, last week, I open record requested the claimant and dollars spent to settle claims with the Knox County Sheriff’s Department since September 1, 2018. Tom Spangler began his term as Sheriff on that date. At this time, I excluded COVID and Workmans Comp claim settlements.
According to the document from the Knox County Law Department, $1,894,513.41 of our tax money have been spent to/for 60 claimants. There are some pending cases that I am aware of that apparently have not been settled, I will specifically ask about one incident on Monday, (that I have asked about before)
