Today at the Rotary Club of Knoxville, City of Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon was the lunchtime Speaker.
Kincannon reviewed the last year and a half as Mayor. When you think about it within four months of becoming Mayor the pandemic hit and only now are things opening back up. For instance, Rotary Club of Knoxville offers in person and zoom meetings at the same time. During the pandemic, the Rotary Club of Knoxville stayed connected and working via zoom.
Within the past month they have completed a very successful fundraiser to help fund the service projects and work of the club.
I have attended Rotary meetings in the past as a guest of my friend Kim Isenberg, as was the situation today.
What impresses me about Rotary is The Four-Way Test. The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:
Of the things we think, say or do
- Is it the TRUTH?
- Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
I am pleased to have friend(s) that allow me to tag along on meetings when there is a Speaker of interest.
