Bob Thomas, Superintendent of Knox County Schools put out an email to the “schooool family” (yes school is misspelled for the pronunciation of it)
So, if your child/student is quarantined, they are still to be counted present, he is encouraging or directing, he said in the email. Is that in order to get the state money for said child/student?
Additionally, in the email it says teachers are to place lessons on the asynchronous instruction, (that’s remote learning, I believe) Last year, Knox County Schools had remote learning teachers and in person teachers. So now that the School district is having each and every teacher do both, will the teachers be compensated for dual instruction? Or will they just tell teachers, If you don’t comply the next teacher will!?
The part about the Knox County Department of Health and Knox County Schools Health are assisting in seating charts, contact tracing et all. That surely gotta tick some people off.
And the best one is we encourage mask wearing and three feet of social distancing, but that’s a family decision. I seem to recall when I was growing up that the wise people I learned a lot from said that is “do as I say, not as I do.”
My last point on this post is for those 5 Knox County School Board Members a month or so ago that voted down protocol or procedures for remediation of the virus, we are not revisiting this anytime soon, is September 1, 2021 at 4:30 pm in the First Floor Board Room of the Andrew Johnson Building not soon?
Y’all are as confusing as (fill in the blank)
Again, my perspective and thoughts are from my experience and expertise serving a four year term of service as the Fifth District Knox County School Board Representative, one year as Vice Chair of the Board and two and a half years as the East Director of the Tennessee School Boards Association Board of Directors.
