with apologies to the great kids book for borrowing part of your title for this title. It just kinda fit.
So Larsen Jay, the now former Knox County Commission Chairman (the longest year ever) was nominated for Finance Committee Chairman as was Commissioner John Schoonmaker. Schoonmaker prevailed overwhelmingly.
Jay wanted to continue serving on The Development Corporation Board, he even spoke to his desire to serve, as he said he was already a member (being Commission Chairman the last year was an automatic seat on the Development Corp Board) Commissioner Courtney Durrett was nominated and elected overwhelmingly.
Jay had really pushed the Redistricting Committee by setting the second meeting for September 9. Jay was very proactive in setting the Knox Planning staff up, in position for the initial meeting at 5:30 pm.
When the meeting began Commissioner Kyle Ward and Jay were nominated for Chair of Redistricting. Ward was elected overwhelmingly. Oh and Jay’s September 9 meeting is canceled, it second meeting will be on September 16.
Jay did not appear happy. In Jay’s bid for re-election in 2022 he has raised a lot of money to attempt to fend off a challenge by his neighbor Christine Cruz.
However, if the 10 people Jay has served with for 3 years and the four Commissioners for 1 year, do not have confidence in his leadership and ability to lead the work of a committee. How are the voters suppose to have confidence in his ability to work for the greater good of Knox County?
It’s a question, Larsen! Don’t try to adjourn this blog post early without a second or cut the live feed.
Larsen Jay is the most unpopular elected county official since Mike Ragsdale. I don’t think all the money in the worlds will get him reelected.
