Last night’s Knox County Commission work session proved that Second District Commissioner Courtney Durrett is a better leader than most she serves with. Durrett brought the Resolution that would have allowed the Merit System for Knox Sheriff’s Employees to hire their own legal counsel. Instead, Law Director David Buuck has appointed his choice of an Attorney from Blount County. His actions ignoring the hundreds or thousands of Attorneys in Knox County. A great appointment in my opinion would be Knoxville Attorney Mike Moyers, former Knox County Law Director and retired Knox County Chancellor. But Buuck once a resident of Blount County and legal counsel of the Blount County community of Louisville, Obviously has relationships in Blount County.
In addition, I have observed during meetings for the last year, Knox County Law Director Buuck when answering or responding to comments by Commissioner Durrett, does not look at her and does NOT call her by name. In addition, when referring to Knox County Merit System Council Member Jim Jennings, Buuck refers to him by name. When referring to Merit Council Chair Gina Oster, he refers to Mrs. Oster as she, her or the Chair. Rarely if ever by name.
It is 2021, why Buuck acts in such juvenile ways toward members of the opposite sex particularly Durrett and Oster is unfortunate especially for an elected County Law Director.
Durrett is a better and professional leader than those she serves with.
