On Thursday afternoon on I-40 East at mile marker 225 in Smith County, TN at 1:15 pm Central Time. A 2020 Kenworth semi driven by a 40 year old male from Fresno, CA rear-ended a 2015 GMC Denali driven by 44 year old Jason Zachary. Zachary then rear-ended a 2018 Ford F-350 driven by a 65 year old male from Leonard, Texas who then rear-ended a 1996 Ford F-150 driven by a 61 year old male from Dixon Springs, TN.
The THP Preliminary report (obtained through open records request) indicate the three men involved were not injured. Only Zachary is listed as a possible injury. Through Zachary’s Twitter account, he reports that he was treated at Parkwest Hospital. an intial report from a source informed me he was air lifted, I am not sure that was accurate. However, somehow Zachary got from mile marker 225 to Parkwest Hospital.
The report states that the traffic was congested due to road construction and was moving slow.
Always remember to keep enough distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you to keep control of your vehicle in the event you are hit from behind. That is in the TN Drivers manual and is taught in Drivers Education.
