In 2020, Betsy Henderson ran in a contested non partisan election for Knox County School Board (because School Board Member Terry Hill vacated her seat upon her election to the Knox County Commission) in the Sixth School Board District for Knox County Schools. She was elected and has served. Last year, the TN State Legislature enacted laws that created partisan School Board elections.
Henderson was selected as the Republican nominee in the May 3, 2022 Knox County Republican Primary, she was unopposed. She is opposed in the Thursday August 4, 2022 Knox County General Election with Early Voting July 15-30.
