At last nights Community meeting for a proposed 1,100 housing units by Smithbilt. Josh Sanderson said he had contacted Betsy Henderson and he could not remember Patti Bounds name (until i yelled it out) and had not gotten school numbers. Henderson gave me Karns High numbers and I posted those in this story last night.
Let’s start at Elementary and go to high school. Obviously, some folks are not Knox County public school educated, so I will repeat and go a little slower for some.
- Powell Elementary School – (enrollment is 771) The max capacity (including portables) is 1,170 while the functional capacity (including portables) is 995. So there are 224 desks to achieve functional capacity
- Powell Middle School – (enrollment is 838) The max capacity is 1,809 and the functional capacity is 1,424. So there are 586 desks to achieve functional capacity.
- Karns High – (enrollment 1289) The max capacity of 2460 and the functional capacity of 1881. So there are 592 desks to achieve functional capacity.
The Belltown proposed development is zoned for Powell Elementary, Middle and Karns High.
Sanderson and Smithbilt really need to prepare better for these meetings.
Not everyone sues and jumps to litigation. Sometimes, peoples actions speak for their integrity or lack thereof. Here is a statement from last nights meeting.
