Last night I was emailed a document from 2007, with Kevin Julian’s signature as Secretary of HPUD. So if he was appointed in 2006 that makes him a Mayor Mike Ragsdale appointee, a Mayor Tim Burchett appointee and now appointed twice by Mayor Glenn Jacobs.
I have already detailed how Julian’s grandfather was a longtime City of Knoxville bureaucrat, his Uncle ran the Veteran Services department for Knox County before becoming Knox County’s HR Director before retiring.
A local online news site attacked Commissioner Rhonda Lee not because they disagreed with Lee’s position about not appointing Julian, but because its not in Commissions authority. This local online news site had/has HPUD as an advertiser. Why HPUD needs to market (when HPUD is the sole source for water and sewer) BUT, hey I would take HPUDs money too, but the bias comes with it.
The same writer that was mocking Commissioner Lee, once wrote that the only way I as a school board member got through School Board meetings was by popping medication(s). By the way, I didn’t take the medicine and I had to google because I was in my thirties when I was on the school board. It is partly why the writer earned the label ”tabloid bully girl” from me.
Now, the law department told Commission on Monday night that these utility boards can not be term limited. The same law department after the Knox County voters in the mid 1990’s overwhelmingly passed term limits, the law department said term limits did not apply to Knox County. Then in 2006, the TN Supreme Courtsaid yes term limits did apply.
So, law department has long history of getting the law wrong.
I simply want people that talk about term limits and Republican philosophies to keep the philosophies even if it is only the spirit of them.
