WVLZ Am 1180 is the home of The Voice from 7:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Lloyd Daugherty and Kelvin Moxley are the host of The Voice. The program is re-broadcast from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. or is re-broadcast on streaming internet form 5:45 p.m. – until. The streaming internet re-broadcast can be found here.
Today around 10:50 – 10:55 a.m. a caller informed Lloyd, Kelvin and the listeners that he had come in contact with a gentleman that was a high bidder on the construction of the new school. His company had bid $60 million, but informed the listener that do to site constraints that this school would cost $80 – $100 million dollars.
The site according to the caller is evidently located in a flood plain. I am simply reporting what was heard on The Voice today. I will try and confirm this information. You can hear the call by visiting The Southern Roots Radio website and listen this evening around 9:00 – 9:15 p.m.
UPDATE 11/16/2005 6:15 p.m. I have not been able to take the time to obtain the bid tabulation sheet to confirm that a Construction Management organization came in with a bid of $60.0 million.
I have talked with two experts in site development, they have assured me that the Hardin Valley site would not be their first choice, however, it will be a good site for a high school. There will be a need to excavate more than normal, however, it will be a good location.
Again: The intial post on November 14, 2005 at 2:25 p.m. was passing along comments from a caller to a talk radio station. I assured you that I would look into it and I have.
