Today October 8, 2023 TN State Senator Becky Duncan Massey kicked off her 2024 campaign. Andy’s Custard was there with Chocolate and Vanilla custard. Snowie snow cones was there also. There were yard games, a K9 team demonstration and of course it was pet friendly, so many dogs were present.
There were numerous local elected officials and announced candidates present. Of Senator Massey’s colleagues present were Lt. Governor Randy McNally of Anderson County, Senate Republican Majority Leader Senator Jack Johnson of Williamson County, Republican Caucus Chairman Senator Ken Yager of Roane County, Senator Dr. Richard Briggs of Knox County , Senator Brent Taylor of Shelby County, Senator Todd Gardenhire, Senator Bo Watson both of Hamilton County and Senator Rusty Crowe of Johnson City. Also State Rep. Lowell Russell of Monroe County, State Rep. David Wright, Justin Lafferty both of Knox County were on the stage with Senator Massey. In addition, Sen. Massey’s brother former United States Congressman John J. Duncan, Jr. State Rep. Elaine Davis also of Knox County arrived late but was present.
The Republican Primary is Thursday August 1, 2024. However, state law prohibits incumbent members from raising money during the legislative session which begins in early January and likely will run through late March or early to mid April.
