Hundreds of City employees have been working 24/7 throughout this snowy holiday weekend, and will continue to provide public-safety and core support services this week as the snowstorm worsens.
However, City offices and recreation facilities, including the City County Building, will be closed Tuesday and possibly longer.
Police officers, firefighters, snow-plowing Public Service crews, Fleet Services technicians and others will continue to perform their duties in person as usual. But employees providing non-emergency non-frontline services will be working remotely until the snow is off the streets and roads are safe for travel.
“The City never actually closes,” Mayor Indya Kincannon said. “We never ceased offering high-quality services during the pandemic, and we won’t shut down now due to snow. We understand that people rely on us. We’re there when we’re needed the most.”
The closure of City offices and recreation centers means that employees and the residents they serve won’t risk harming themselves or others by driving when conditions are treacherous.

I asked about Knoxville City Court for tomorrow January 16, 2024 and was told that it too would be closed. New Knoxville Municipal Judge Caviness who promised change, will NOT be on the bench. So those of you that were to appear have some more time to appear……
