Three Rivers Republican Club (East, Northeast and South County)

Three Rivers Republican Club (former Northeast and East County Eighth District and South Knox County’s Ninth District combined) met for the February meeting this evening.

The club meets at the Marbledale Baptist Church on Thorngrove Pike off John Sevier Highway near the Forks of the River where East Knox County meets South Knox County.

Following the 6 pm meeting a dinner is served, where a monetary gift is taken to help pay for the meal.

Tonight several candidates, elected officials and their representatives were present. Sheriff Tom Spangler made the first public statement, following his afternoon notice to the Knox County Sheriff uniformed body that he is facing stage one maybe two pancreatic cancer, small, confined. He is upbeat, positive and I am pulling for him to kick cancers ass.

Also present were, Knox County Law Director David Buuck, Knox County Chancellor Bud Armstrong, Knox County Commission candidate Barry Neal Ninth District, Treasurer for Knox County School Board candidate Travis Wright Eighth District (who was coaching middle school baseball boys), Knox County School Board candidate Tommy Lakins Eighth District School Board, Knox County Commissioner Carson Daley Ninth District, Knox County Clerk Sherry Witt, Kathy Wright, representing Sen. Becky Duncan Massey (who is in Nashville) Knox County Commission candidate DJ Corcoran Eighth District represented by sister Sherry Witt, Former Knox County School Board member and Knox Focus Publisher Steve Hunley, representing Knox County Commission candidate Adam Thompson Eighth District. Thompson did make it in slightly late, expected Republican challenger to Sen. Massey, Monica Irvine.

Below is the statement Sheriff Spangler sent to the uniformed body today about his latest health challenge.

The Knox County Commission will meet on March 6 11:30 am the day after the March 5 election to swear in the Republican Primary winner of the Eighth District Knox County School Board to serve the remaining term of former member Mike McMillan.

The Knox County Republican Party will meet election night March 5, 2024 around 8 pm to watch the winners win at the Downtown Crowne Plaza.
